“Three sisters” is a photo and video performance in which the artist Elena Belobragina reveals three personalities, the roles that were imposed on her. She certainly has sympathy and affection for them, but the most important thing is that she can exist without them. The most important thing is herself and her own sense of herself in this world.

 

Each of these “sisters” has its own name and its own expiration date, like all these roles. In three photos, the artist is shown with her eyes closed, giving the viewer the understanding that these images were imposed by society while she did not notice it.

 

By erasing everything from her face at the end of the performance video, she appears before the viewer in a fragile guise, but real.
